When it comes to modern day sci fi, it is impossible to ignore the contribution of George Lucas’s seminal and classic Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, which upon release in 1977 was simply titled Star Wars.
This authentic replica of one of the first promotional posters for the film is a brilliant illustration that covers much of the Star Wars universe, in its beginnings. All the main characters are beautifully rendered here: Princess Leia, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, R2-D2, C-3PO, Obi Wan Kenobi, and Grand Moff Tarkin, all arranged against the ethereal void of deep space in front of the large specter of Darth Vader and the Death Star, looming in the background.
The trio of heroes — Luke, Han and Leia — stand in attack formation armed with blasters, as X-Wings and Tie Fighters fly and whiz around along the edges of the frame. Vader brandishes his light-saber, colored red, which enhances the visual’s lines and composition considerably.
The adventure and action are palpable print on textured MDF (medium-density fibreboard), which eschews any slogan or tagline in favor only of the film’s title on the bottom. Surrounded by a stylish and sleek MDF black frame that completes the look of the piece and makes the print pop, this is the ultimate in cinematic memorabilia, celebrating one of the absolute greats. Hang it in the kids’ room, or give it prime placement anywhere you feel needs a hint of something from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
